Don’t try holding the big picture in your mind constantly. Focus just on the next bit instead.
Thinking about big, seemingly endless projects that require our attention and energy over a long stretch of time is overwhelming. It makes us anxious, stressed, and unsure.
How do you build a castle? It requires foundations, roof, carpeting, curtains, stairs, furniture, paint, gardening, room layout… a million different things competing for your attention at every moment. It’s impossible to even conceive it.
So how do you approach building it? You break it down into tiny steps. And you don’t even have to know all the steps in advance. The next one (or the first one) is what matters.
Figure out where you want to build it. Once you do, figure out what the next step is and then get it done.
