What When an Incident Happens

A paper cup spilled on the road.

How do you react when something unexpected, bad happens? How do you react when you make a mistake, and the consequence rears its ugly head immediately?

Do you let it define your day? Do you view everything that happens afterward through the lens of that one incident? Do you decide that the day is ruined, lost, and eagerly wait for it to end?

Or do you shrug it off, make a mental note of the mistake you’ve made (so you don’t repeat it), and move on to the next important thing? After all, the day consists of many individual moments, and not all are tightly connected.

It’s a choice. And the first one isn’t particularly good or useful.
