All Projects Need an End

A person running to the top of a hill.

All projects should have start and end dates. The start is an obvious and crucial step. But it’s just as important to define the end because infinite projects are threatening, unimaginable, and impossible to pull off.

The end doesn’t have to be in sight or at a specific date. It can be a vague idea of things that have to happen for you to consider it finished.

Perhaps when you start pursuing a different interest. Maybe when the technology becomes obsolete, your audience loses enthusiasm, or you uncover the crucial message you needed to learn.

It’s much easier to get started if you know you’ll be able to stop eventually.
